Yogurt Protein Shake

Here’s a refreshing, high-protein shake just loaded with vitamins, minerals, and fiber. Great for breakfast, after a workout or just about anytime you need a quick pick-me-up. Frozen fruit will make the shake thick, almost like an ice cream shake. Try this one with any of your favorite berries.

1/2 cup nonfat yogurt

1-1/2 teaspoons protein powder (made with whey, soy or egg)

1/2  cup fresh or frozen fruit, such as cherries, berries, or cut up peaches or melon

1 banana, fresh or frozen

1/4 cup or more of fruit juice  ( organic best)

1 or 2 pitted dates

Now combine all the ingredients in a blender, mixing well until smooth. Add some more fruit juice, if necessary, to reach desired consistency.

Serves 1. Per serving 294 calories, 2 grams of fat, 10 grams of protein, 65 carbohydrates, 5 grams of fiber and 110 mg of sodium
