Upping your Metabolism
You’re probably well aware that different people have different rates of metabolism which affects not only how much you can eat without gaining wait but also how much energy you have.
The bad news for women? Men have a faster rate than we do, and as we age, our metabolism gets slower and slower. Beginning around age twenty-five, women’s metabolism slows down to about 2 to 5 percent each decade. Not good news ladies!
BUT you can still increase your metabolism and thus your energy level as well, at any age, by exercising more and eating right.
One key element is to increase muscle mass because muscle mas burns 90% more calories than fat. Another is to not skip meals or go on extremed diets (less than 600 calories a day) which will only serve to slow down your body to compensate for the “starvation” mode its experiencing.
Also make sure you get an adequate amounts of protein to maintain or build muscle mass. Best bets for this are egg whites, lentils, nonfat yogurt and milk, lean cuts of beef, grilled chicken, salmon, turkey and tofu.
And add to this enough sleep so that you can do all that working out!
