Light therapy remedy for the winter blues
Being inside over the cold winter months can leave many of us all feeling fatigued, drained, depressed, moody and lacking energy. Did you ever wonder why?
While some people think that this is partially due to the lack of exercise, research has also shown that we need, at the very minimum, at least one half hour of natural sunlight a day to keep the brain producing the correct amount of serotonin, the feel good hormone.
If it’s not feasible for you to go outside often, consider investing in some full spectrum lighting for your home or office. This will also help to lift your mood and spirit as they contain the same color balance as natural sunlight.
But better yet, put on that winter coat and go outside, walk the dog or take part in a winter sport or other activity. Even on those cloudy days there is still enough daylight to do a body and mind good.
And if you can see it in your budget to escape to a warmer sunny climate, perhaps a relaxing spa vacation to the Caribbean, this is just one more way, to again beat those winter blues.
Problem with that last bit if advice is that you might not want to come back until winter is OVER!
Although, personally, I think I could live with that! LOL
